MGAC’s Toronto Office Receives Fitwel Certification
We are proud to announce that our Toronto office has been recognized for promoting occupant health and well-being with a 1-Star Fitwel Certification!
Fitwel is a cost-effective, high impact building certification system that optimizes building occupant health and productivity through targeted improvements to workplace design and operational policies. Fitwel has a vision for a healthier future where every building is enhanced to support the well-being of its occupants and surrounding communities.
In spring of 2021, we moved our Toronto office to the Junction neighbourhood, a vibrant up-and-coming city area. Built in 1930, the office building was originally home to an industrial transformer factory. To achieve the certification requirements, MGAC worked closely with the design team and general contractor to incorporate several evidence-based design and operations strategies that support the physical, mental, and social health of our staff. These improvements include access to healthy food and beverages, monitoring and maintenance of a healthy workspace that includes multiple lighting and shade controls, air quality measures, access to daylight, and active workstations. The location of the office is in a vibrant walkable neighbourhood within a transit hub and offers a generous transit subsidy for all staff members.
This certification builds on our ESG commitment to embrace sustainability in each of our offices to improve the workplace of our teams.
