The building process is complex and comes with common—and not-so-common—challenges. Learn more about what we do as Project Managers in our monthly video series, MGAC on the Move. Each month a different member of our team will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at one of their current projects. Now let’s get moving!

This month, Francesca Wilson takes us on a tour of Helensburgh Waterfront Development, a new vibrant and attractive leisure facility in Scotland. The main feature of the project is a swimming pool and teaching pool, in addition to two state-of-the-art fitness studios, a gym, and café.

Hi there. My name's Francesca Wilson, and I'm an assistant quantity surveyor at MGCRLA. I'll give you a tour of Helensburgh Waterfront Development. Let's get moving.

The main feature of the Helensburgh Waterfront Development is the liesure center, which is situated on the edge of the water by the pier. This impressive building contains a 25-meter swimming pool and a learner pool containing a movable floor, which is surrounded by full-height glazing and stunning glulam beams exposed within the ceiling.

The swimming facilities also include a sauna and a steam room within the health suite area. Upstairs the focal point is a state-of-the-art gym which has been designed to offer amazing views out to the water. The facility also contains a multipurpose room and spin studio fitted with music and light system.

Externally, the development has provided enhanced flood defense surrounding the new facility, and phase two works comprises demolition of the existing building and the renovation of the Helensburgh pier.

I hope you enjoyed seeing what's happening at Helensburgh Waterfront Development. Follow us to see MGAC's next move.
