Penn State Health, Lancaster Medical Center

Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States

Project Summary

Penn State Health’s Lancaster Medical Center gives residents of Lancaster and York counties enhanced access to Penn State Health’s expertise and specialty services without having to make the drive to Hershey. The 129-bed, five-story facility—the health system’s fourth acute care hospital—is another step in Penn State Health’s promise to build a broader community network that ensures patients receive the best quality of care closer to home.

MGAC provided cost consulting services for Continuous Cost Management with Target Value Design, including value engineering, independent cost estimates at key milestones, budget management, and collaboration with the client in bi-weekly “Big Room” meetings.

The new 355,000 SF hospital features all private inpatient beds; an emergency department; various specialty inpatient services, including labor and delivery, medical / surgical, general surgical, a cardiac catheterization laboratory, and operating rooms; an imaging laboratory with MRI, CT scan, fluoroscopy, and general radiography capabilities.

The project also includes the adjacent 60,000 SF Medical Arts Building with space for physician offices, cardiology, and catheterization laboratory facilities. Extensive on-site improvements comprise access roads, site parking, site utilities, a 300-stall freestanding parking structure, and a Central Utility Plant.
