DC Mayor Signs Historic Clean Energy Legislation at AGU Headquarters

Last Friday, we witnessed Mayor Muriel Bowser sign the ambitious Clean Energy DC Omnibus Act of 2018. Among other things, the bill will now require all DC electricity to come from renewable sources and calls for vast improvements to the energy efficiency of existing buildings within the District. As a new leading example for green commercial buildings in DC, the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Headquarters, where the bill was signed, provided a fitting backdrop for this historic moment.

Since 2013, the AGU Headquarters has undergone serious renovations in order to become the first Net Zero energy renovation of a commercial office building in the city and we are proud to have provided project management, cost and risk management, technology solutions, and procurement services for the project. The end result will modernize the 20-year-old workplace into a bright, more employee-friendly space that now embodies AGU’s mission to strive for and set an example for a more sustainable future.

With the passage of this legislation, we hope to see more ambitious projects like that of the AGU Headquarters break ground in DC and beyond.
