COVID-19 and the Construction Industry: Staying Safe while Staying Productive

The current COVID-19 crisis has affected lives and industries across the world—including ours. As we continue to monitor the effects of the virus, MGAC is committed to doing our part to stop the spread, while also maintaining a high quality of work for our clients across the globe. And, we firmly believe that both can be done simultaneously: social distancing by working remotely while also staying busy, staying productive, and staying the course.

To our clients, however this situation affects your business, know that we are here to help. From leaning into technology like Bluebeam, FaceTime, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Skype, and/or Zoom to allow for electronic documentation and onsite problem-solving to relying on good old-fashioned telephone calls to replace in-person meetings, we as a company remain confident in our ability to make your missions real.

There are many unknowns right now. New questions are being asked every day that we do not yet have the answers to—is a viral outbreak a compensable delay on a construction project? What happens if a contractor does not want to work on a site they consider “contaminated?” What effects do government directives have on ongoing construction projects? What about a supply chain disruption? We know that the only constant right now is that there is no constant; things will continue to change. But, what we also know is this—MGAC has always risen to a challenge, and this one is no different. Together, we will make it through.
