Arboretum Community Center Opens to Public

Earlier this month, Mayor Muriel Bowser, District officials, community members, and the construction project team held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Arboretum Community Center in Ward 5 of Washington, DC. The historic recreation center, formerly a 1,400 SF field house and located adjacent to the National Arboretum, underwent a $10.8 million restoration and renovation and is now a modern, 8,000 SF, LEED-certified facility.

MGAC’s Mike Etherton, Alex Casey, Oliver Fox, and James Partridge provided project and cost management services for the new facility. The project began in October 2015 and has been completed through the combined efforts of the Department of General Services and the Department of Parks and Recreation. The new community center includes all new indoor and outdoor amenities, such as a fitness center and meeting rooms for all community members to enjoy.
