MGAC managed the renovation of the historic W Hotel in Washington, DC. The first phase of the project, completed in December 2017, included managing the design and construction of the model guestroom. The next phase began in 2018 and encompasses the renovation of all public spaces. The scope includes a full refurbishment of the rooftop bar; renovation of the lobby, registration, library, and living room, including relocation and full redesign of the current lobby bar; re-conceptualization of existing restaurants, including expansion and enhancements to a commercial kitchen and associated outdoor patio; and renovations of the ballroom and prefunction space, to include new carpet, finishes, lighting, and audio-visual systems.
The final phase of the project involved the floor-by-floor renovation of all 317 guestrooms—as well as conversions of existing spaces to yield 10 additional keys. The project required significant coordination with local permitting and regulatory authorities, most notably the Historic Preservation Review Board.
