With all that is on the horizon, this west coast team is expanding to meet their existing project work and upcoming new client work.

Are you a well-versed MEP project manager, OSHPD or DSA certified, with at least five years of experience as a Project Engineer, Superintendent or construction project manager? If so, please read on.

This position is responsible for managing overall direction for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection and all documentation throughout the project and will be an integral part of the team to lead the construction process from start to finish, utilizing their passion and experience to drive project completion success.

What we are looking for:

  • An ambitious MEP-focused construction project manager with 5+ years of experience working on hospital projects or similar.
  • OSHPD or DSA Certified MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) professional with ground up construction experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering preferred, will consider other relevant degrees.
  • A flexible, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • A leader and technical resource who can give overall direction for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection, as well as documentation throughout the project.
  • Understands Building Codes, Mechanical Codes, Electrical Codes and Plumbing Codes as they relate to construction of project. Also understands the building processes and systems.
  • Communicator, mentor and manager who is able to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines, holding utmost importance to keep all stakeholders in the loop, especially when there are changes that shift priorities.
  • Experienced project manager who is skilled in coordinating MEP systems on large scale projects and has in-depth knowledge of LEED, especially as it relates to the Fundamental and enhanced commissioning credits.
  • A client advisor and team player who is able to work with MEP designers to ensure the design meets the Owner’s/Stake Holder’s needs with a target value design approach.
  • Experienced in cost estimating, budgeting, and systems as well as procurement, managing and mentoring teams.
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs as well as Primavera P6. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (Prolog or similar), accounting cost management software (CMIC or similar), and scheduling software (Primavera or similar).


What you'll be doing (and why you'll love it)

  • Act as an owner’s representative and be the client's trusted advisor and partner. Help explain complex issues, manage conflicts, and advise on matters that are outside of the owner’s sphere of knowledge. Assist the owner in making informed decisions that keep the project on track.   
  • You’ll be an integral part of the team, mentoring and leading, managing schedule, scope, and budget.  
  • Manage overall direction for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection and all documentation throughout the project. This includes working with MEP designers to ensure the design meets the Owner’s/Stake Holder’s needs with a Target value design approach.
  • Review all MEP related submittals and confirm they comply with the design criteria and contract. Work with the designers to help establish specifications that support the project schedule, budget and quality.
  • Coordinate materials procurement and other related activities and communicate progress and prepare appropriate reports as needed.
  • Work with contractor on logistics plans and temporary facility requirements. Maintain client advocacy throughout each phase of the project with specific focus on MEP systems.
  • Review, management, and administration of mechanical bid tabs/Exhibit Bs, MEP submittals, monthly MEP payment requisitions and change orders, and MEP contractor schedule/performance.
  • Facilitate the 3‐D coordination process to resolve conflicts prior to start of installation. Track progress and memorialize decisions and dates.
  • Assist Schedulers and/or site personnel with developing detailed CPM schedules for MEP installation activities, including cost and resource loading.
  • Ensure all mechanical/electrical shop drawings are submitted in a timely manner. Review shop drawings for completeness.
  • Conduct site visits to perform detailed inspections of work in progress, ensuring quality of installation. Promptly point out deficiencies with responsible parties and follow up to ensure that deficiencies are corrected. Meet with inspectors. Resolve problems with the architect and subcontractor as they arise. Track responsibilities and dates of said issues.
  • Develop a detailed project status report and review all change orders to ensure that building code requirements are met, that changes will not impact adversely on other systems in the building and that cost estimates are reasonable and customary.
  • Resolve any technical problems encountered with the architect. Review change order pricing when requested to assist project team.
  • Assist in developing plans for start‐up and commissioning of MEP systems and with the project team. Interface with the project stakeholders and commissioning agent and review all commissioning related documentation.
