Wilshire Grand Center, Los Angeles, CA
The tallest structure in the western United States, the Wilshire Grand Center is a mixed-use tower combining 400,000 SF of Class ‘A’ office space, 900 hotel rooms, and 45,100 SF of new restaurant and retail space. With the cost of construction steadily rising, the client approached MGAC early in the design phase to perform an independent analysis of the general contractor’s costs.
Initially tasked with reviewing the budget for specific aspects of the overall project, MGAC developed individual cost estimates to use as comparisons against the GC’s figures. These estimates commented on the project’s content, components, systems, and quantities. Following this initial analysis, our responsibilities evolved to include an evaluation of all change orders and a detailed review of the Statement of Work. Working with the owner and the design and construction teams, MGAC successfully brought this project back on track.
