UCSF Health, Helen Diller Medical Center at Parnassus Heights

San Francisco, CA

UC San Francisco has a 30-year plan to modernize the University’s Parnassus Heights campus, this includes the construction of a new 384-bed, 955,000 SF inpatient hospital tower known as UCSF Helen Diller Medical Center. This new hospital will be the centerpiece of the Parnassus Heights Plan and will allow the University to keep pace with the region’s growing health care needs.

The new tower will occupy a 100,000 SF site that was formerly the home of Moffitt Hospital. The 18-story building includes 11 tower levels, five podium levels, two basement levels, and a roof deck. Levels three and four will require hillside excavation of adjacent Mount Sutro.

Additional aspects of the cost plan include building and structure removal, as well as 208,000 SF of renovations to existing space, including the upgrade, relocation, or removal of utilities; street and sidewalk improvements; and landscaping. Construction is planned to take place over five phases, with an estimated completion date of 2030.
