Ryerson University, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Ryerson University’s new Church Street Development transformed an existing parking lot at the southeast corner of campus into a 29-story mixed-use tower, including academic, administrative, residential, and retail spaces, as well as four levels of underground parking. The academic programs housed in the new building include the School of Nursing, Midwifery Education, School of Nutrition, School of Occupational and Public Health, Communications, Government & Community Engagement, University Advancement, and Food Services. A Fabrication Zone is also included in the facility.
MGAC facilitated value-engineering workshops for the project at the end of Schematic Design and Design Development. Through our efforts, the project achieved a 10% reduction in cost without reduction to the building program. MGAC continued providing ongoing consultancy services to ensure that cost management processes aligned with the design and construction teams’ activities as the project completed bidding and moved into Construction Administration.
