Studio William-Hefner designed this remarkable 16,360 SF high-end California home featuring innovative architecture and meticulous craftsmanship. The estate centers around a pool, surrounded by three structures: a two-story main residence, a guesthouse, and a master suite connected by a glass bridge. The residence is wrapped with translucent glass walls and a continuous louvered shade system, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience while maintaining privacy.
The property also includes lush 30,000 SF gardens, a nearly Olympic-sized swimming pool, a raised spa, and a sprawling patio with an outdoor lounge, kitchen, and dining area. The compound blends mid-century modern aesthetics with geometric volumes and Hollywood-inspired eccentricities, highlighting the client’s desire for a home integrated with nature.
Several challenges arose during the project, including the initial contractor going out of business, necessitating a reevaluation of sub-contracts and invoices. The site spanned two separate lots, requiring a lot line adjustment and extensive communication with city boards to meet strict ordinances. Custom elements posed difficulties, including sourcing tailor-made furnishings, bespoke security fences, and glass cabinetry. Despite these obstacles, the dedication of the project team ensured the realization of this avant-garde property.
