MGAC is providing project management, furniture procurement, relocation management, and decommissioning services for The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Silver Spring Metro Campus (SSMC) Restack Project. The client is consolidating employees from multiple locations into five buildings at the 1,200,00 SF campus, completing 1-2 full-floor renovations in multiple phases over five years. Phase 1 includes 715 new workstations, private offices, collaboration spaces, and appliances, while Phase 2 includes 300 workstations and demountable walls.
MGAC is working directly with NOAA’s line offices, the project architect, property management, NOAA’s facilities team, and subcontractors to align schedules with NOAA’s sequencing plan. Our scope of work includes managing the design process and procurement of various furniture, fixtures, and equipment, with the project benefitting from our Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) contract through the General Services Administration (GSA).
Decommissioning services include coordinating inventory, tear down, and removal of 500 workstations, as well as removal of components for 300 workstations to be stored on-site. Additionally, MGAC identified opportunities to donate, reuse or recycle furniture to prevent landfill waste. Phase 2 decommissioning includes the same services for over 120 seats at an off-site location and two floors at SSMC with 200 workstations in total.
