Marriott Portland Downtown Waterfront

Portland, OR

Boasting a prime location on the Willamette River and beautiful views of Mount Hood, the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront has always offered guests convenient access to the best that Portland has to offer. When approaching the renovation of their public spaces, they sought to enhance this offering by bringing the city’s most endearing attractions – the people, the food, and the sense of community – in-house for all to enjoy.

MGAC was engaged to manage the renovation, which began with the arrival entrance area and the conversion of the hotel’s 7,455 SF lobby to incorporate Marriott’s Great Room concept. This communal approach to the lobby experience provides new amenities to guests and the surrounding neighborhood and includes a social business zone, day/night bar, individual zone, and an At Your Service (AYS) zone. The existing 2,500-SF restaurant was renovated and reopened as Truss Restaurant – and features a menu that celebrates regional cuisine and has delighted both guests, locals, and national critics. For the more business-minded traveler, the effort included upgrades to the 42,000 SF of flexible meeting space. Additionally, the project featured the removal and replacement of four escalators serving three floors with new trusses and equipment, replacing the existing equipment that was beyond its useful life. Upon completion, the hotel unveiled a progressive approach to the welcome experience – one that allows guests to both enjoy and immerse themselves in the city of Portland from the second they walk in the door.
