MGAC provided project management services to JBGSmith for the development of a vibrant mixed-use community located just off Washington’s U Street corridor. The project consists of two buildings totaling 288,000 SF that include 245 residential units and 28,000 SF of ground level retail. The project also includes roof terraces for residents, an outdoor rooftop swimming pool, lounges, and below grade parking.
Specific project challenges involved excavation above an underground rail line and management of construction efforts along a busy street with high volumes of vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The project required constant management, communication, and coordination with multiple approvals agencies, including the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs, the Historic Preservation Review Board, and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. MGAC’s successful efforts delivering this project resulted in multiple additional assignments for JBGSmith in the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia.
