As part of a larger effort to reinvigorate downtown Merced, the historic El Capitan Hotel underwent an extensive renovation and expansion. MGAC managed the entire project, which included a restoration of the historic facade, an interior renovation of 33 existing guestrooms, and the construction of a new adjoining hotel annex to house 67 guestrooms. Additional spaces included a new full-service restaurant, cafe, wine bar, exterior and interior courtyards, and a fitness center.
In addition to the hotel property, the scope of work included the conversion of a historic theater into a vibrant downtown destination. The hotel now includes a new restaurant, bar, four bowling lanes, private event space, and performance center.
