DoubleTree hotels around the world are known for their focus on the human experience – from the warm chocolate chip cookie welcome to the array of amenities offered at each location. So when Garrison Investment Group took on the renovation and rebranding of their Houston Greenway Plaza property, they knew that the success of their investment would be measured in how well they delivered on the details.
We were engaged to manage the two-phased project – and charged with incorporating property improvement plan (PIP) requirements across the hotel’s public spaces, 388 guest rooms, and six suites. The 20-story hotel was also in need of cosmetic upgrades to their existing public, meeting, restaurant, and lobby spaces. We oversaw the entire process, including the conversion of a concierge lounge to increase the hotel’s meeting space to 26,000 SF across 19 rooms – all of which were upgraded with new architectural lighting and audiovisual systems. Improvements also extended to select back-of-house areas that guests don’t see, but that are vital to ensuring their stay runs smoothly. Upon its DoubleTree debut, the new brand quickly reestablished this once aging property as a go-to destination in the hearts of Houston travelers.
