Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), Hardy Park, Washington, DC
The Hardy Park is nestled amid a myriad of outdoor opportunities including an athletic field, playground, splash pad, dog park, gardens basketball courts, and tennis courts. The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) saw a need from the community to bring cohesion to the existing opportunities and enhance the current uses by expanding the park into a dynamic space for learning, play, and communal experience.
MGAC provided project management services to help DPR bring its vision for Hardy Park to life. Based on community input and budget, the project consisted of the design and construction of an addition to the existing recreation center and various renovations. The renovated area includes a new playground, splash pad, picnic plaza and pavilion, walking track around the field with fitness equipment, and a new dog park, as well as the renovation of the existing soccer field with a lower playing field. The project also underwent landscaping, fencing, site furnishings, and remediation of site drainage, runoff, and erosion issues.
