Department of General Services (DGS), Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), Hardy Recreation Center, Washington, DC
The Hardy Recreation Center is nestled amid a myriad of outdoor opportunities including an athletic field, playground, splash pad, dog park, gardens basketball courts, and tennis courts. The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) saw a need from the community to bring cohesion to the existing opportunities and enhance the current uses by expanding the park into a dynamic space for learning, play, and communal experience.
MGAC is providing project management services to help DPR bring its vision for the Hardy Recreation Center to life. Based on community input and the project budget allotted for the design and construction of an addition to the existing recreation center, the renovated area will include a new playground, splash pad, picnic plaza and pavilion, walking track around the field with fitness equipment, and a new dog park, as well as the renovation of the existing soccer field with a lower playing field. The project will also include landscaping, fencing, site furnishings, and remediation of site drainage, runoff, and erosion issues.
