The Capitol Hill Motessori at Logan looked to improve the school’s operations by adding approximately 50,000 SF to an existing 50,000 SF historic building that was constructed throughout the 1930’s and 1940’s. MGAC was brought on board to provide project management services for the addition and modernization.
Work for the school included construction of a full kitchen and cafeteria, full FF&E procurement services, and a large public art budget. MGAC’s primary responsibilities for the $72M project included project management; submittal and RFI review; facilitating owner and contractor meetings; working closely with the owner to monitor project schedule and resolve construction design conflict; and coordinating an off-site swing space.
The school, which is pursuing LEED certification, will eventually utilize geothermal wells and feature outdoor classrooms, including the addition of greenspace play areas.
