MGAC is thrilled to announce the completion of the rehabilitation of San Cristina in San Francisco, a historic single-room occupancy building originally constructed in 1913, where we served as Project Manager. This comprehensive renovation enhanced the building’s structural and seismic stability while boosting energy efficiency.

Our team carefully restored the exterior, including repairs to the original stamped sheet metal cornice, bringing back its architectural charm. Key upgrades included a new domestic hot water and plumbing system, modernized electrical infrastructure, the addition of an elevator, and enhanced sprinkler and life safety systems. Interior improvements provided updated community rooms, kitchens, and counseling spaces while preserving original features like the wood and steel frame windows.

With its 58 units, San Cristina continues to be a critical housing resource for low-income residents. This project not only maintains the building’s historical character but also creates a safer, more sustainable environment for the community. MGAC is proud to support a brighter future through this impactful project.
